CPU CORE PROCESSOR PROGRAMMING REFERENCE ENGINEER

 

THE ROLE:

 

As a CPU Core Register Definition Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to work in the center of a microprocessor Core IP team to contribute to the register definitions, specifications, and Processor Programming Reference generation.  You will have the opportunity to work with next generation microprocessor architects and SOC designers to participate in world class processor behavior definition.

 

THE PERSON:

 

You should have knowledge of microprocessors, some programming background, and enjoy working as part of a team! You have strong communication skills and can translate specifications and features into clear and concise documentation defining microprocessor register behavior. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

    • Define and develop core IP sections of Processor Programming Reference (PPR) manuals.
    • Program register specifications for PPR generation, and problem solve complex program generation flows.
    • Work with IP architects/designers to understand and communicate core variations for client and server SOCs to internal and external customers.
    • Additionally, develop scripting tools to improve testing of core microprocessor PPR.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

    • Knowledge of x86 microprocessors or other CPU Instruction Set Architecture (ISA)
    • Familiarity with computer architecture and terms.
    • Experience with programming languages, particularly scripting/programming languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.
    • Understanding of Revision Control Systems (e.g., Perforce, CVS, GIT, etc.)
    • Highly motivated to seek out solutions and willing to learn new skills to fulfill job requirements
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

    • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
