CPU Diagnostic Engineer

THE ROLE:

This position is crucial to AMD's Server Product Road Map and will be passionate about providing critical diagnostics for the next generation of AMD’s flagship CPU products Epyc and Ryzen.

Our team’s success is measured by diagnostic efficiency to find root cause design silicon defects early in the product life cycle as well as and the speed/effectiveness of diagnostics in system-level manufacturing test (SLT).

Key components of this role will be working with customers to craft, code, debug and optimize software for the silicon bring-up. Provide hands-on expertise in validation, debug and system-level manufacturing tests.

This position will also be responsible for code reviews, creating test patterns, authoring detailed documentation related to your work and mentoring junior members of the team to optimize their technical contributions to AMD.

Key responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics for x86 core CPU products.
  • Build and manage relationships with the x86 Silicon Design, Physical Design, Verification, and Manufacturing teams
  • Architect/Author test plans, design, develop diagnostic software to verify the x86 design in emulation, bring-up, post-silicon, and manufacturing
  • Perform unit and integration testing, debugging, post-release support and software configuration management
  • Investigate future roadmaps and product user documentation to understand software impact.
  • Translate these requirements/impacts into executable projects
  • Write development documentation and supply content to end-user documentation
  • Experience with client/server CPU (X86, ARM, PowerPC etc) architecture and Micro-Architecture

Preferred experience:

  • SOC level hardware and/or Embedded Systems verification
  • C / C++ and Assembly Language Programming
  • CPU performance modeling
  • Power management (power & performance)
  • Verifying Assembly Language
  • Linux Kernel experience

Academic credentials:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS or equivalent is required
