The Role:

Do you thrive in finding performance in areas others cannot?

If so, we have a role with AMD's Client CPU performance team where you will analyze the performance of existing and planned products. You will drive the next generation CPU hardware and software optimizations for AMD’s notebook and desktop processors. This role will involve performance work on internal and competitive hardware platforms and development of tools and methodologies that will be used for the analysis of both CPU hardware and software in addition to helping develop new methodologies to analyze and trace complex real-world workloads. This role involves working closely with a variety of people from differing disciplines, collaborating with architects and key stakeholders.

The Person:

We are looking for individuals with background in computer architecture and performance analysis. We expect the successful candidate will have or develop skills related to optimizing CPU products, driving features into upcoming designs, and doing pre-silicon CPU simulation. Proven data analysis skills are highly desired for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with CPU micro-architects and designers to optimize future CPU cores either as a team member or leader
  • Develop and deliver data that will be used in CPU roadmap planning activities
  • Analyze competitive products and find opportunities to improve our future products
  • Characterize workloads, project workload performance, and help debug performance of new products
  • Develop and maintain tools for data collection and analysis
  • Optimize performance of new products prior to launch

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with computer architecture, system simulation, and performance evaluation
  • Mathematical and statistical modeling
  • Experience analyzing system bottlenecks and optimizing computing systems for performance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross functionally with both internal and external client facing engineering teams that are geographically dispersed.

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis on computer architecture
