The Role:

The Infinity Fabric Architecture and RTL team at AMD builds the next generation coherent interconnect and last level cache (LLC) to provide connectivity between CPU, GPU, memory and special purpose accelerators. Every product that AMD sells has its own custom-designed Infinity Data Fabric including traditional servers, high performance computing, client desktop and laptop PCs, machine intelligence, graphics, console gaming, embedded, and customer-specific applications.


As a co-op, you would help this diverse team of engineers identify and solve complex problems to create fantastic products for our clients. This is a great opportunity to learn the inner workings of a global engineering team in a fast paced environment and contribute immediately towards the architecture and microarchitecture of a next generation product.

The Person:

We are seeking an RTL design intern with strong communication skills. A global mindset and ability to work in a multi – site environment are keys to being successful in this role.


Availability: Summer 2022, preference for continuing as Fall 2022 Co-op

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write easily readable and synthesizable Verilog RTL
  • Optimize the design to meet power, performance, area and timing requirements.
  • Run some unit level testing to deliver quality code to the Design Verification Team.
  • Researching and modeling exploratory design ideas in C/C++
  • Create assertions to improve coverage and cover points to analyze coverage of the design.
  • Create well written code documentation.

Preferred Experience:

  • Good understanding of basic computer architecture
  • Working knowledge of Verilog and System Verilog
  • Working knowledge of C, C++ and a scripting language like Perl or Python
  • Strong understanding of digital electronics and high-speed designs(>1GHz).
  • Good debugging and analytical skills
  • Bonus knowledge of multi-processor coherency, memory ordering, i/o ordering, interrupts, MMU, caches, and x86/ARM ISA.

Academic Credentials:

Junior/Senior of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering BS program preferred, or currently pursuing MS or PhD candidates
