THE ROLE: 

Do you want to drive the future of computing?  AMD is looking for a key leader in the Product Management organization – one who is responsible for defining and driving the next generation of AMD laptop and desktop processors.  In this highly collaborative role, you will interface with technologists, engineering leaders, and key influencers at partner companies to build our next generation solutions.  You’ll be responsible for creating the product vision, and evangelizing that vision internally and externally – ultimately launching a product that lives up to the goals you set. 

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in product management/marketing in PC computing products with experience in platforms, silicon, and the software ecosystem that enables them.  Success in the role requires strong leadership skills to motivate and engage a team of engineering, marketing, product management and business development professionals to achieve the goals of the product.  Candidates are expected to have significant experience in the following areas: 

  

Product Leadership – ability to define a product, articulate its value proposition, and drive across the company to execute on that product vision. 

Technical depth – ability to engage with platform and silicon engineering teams to lead business-driven decisions from system to silicon to software. 

Business acumen – ability to analyze markets, create business cases, develop pricing strategies and build product transition strategies. 

Product launch – ability to lead product launches, engaging with top tier press, regional teams, and senior executive team to successfully bring products to market 

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ownership of a product portfolio within the Client Business Unit with responsibility for driving execution from planning thorough high volume production and end of life 

  • Collaborate with general managers, go-to-market, and sales teams to synthesize market requirements into winning products 

  • Develop product business cases in collaboration with customer-facing general manager and sales teams that meet Client business growth and share objectives 

  • Collaborate with engineering execution teams to ensure product requirements, goals and objectives are met and exceeded 

  • Partner with engineering teams to create a software and platform ecosystem that support the value proposition and vision for AMD’s Client products 

  • Develop product sell-in collateral and assist Client business development teams to communicate future product roadmap and features to customers 

  • Manage product migration across multiple generations supporting consistent share growth in selected vertical markets 

  • Represent AMD’s interests in discussions with key IHV, ISV, and OS partners to drive a product and technology collaboration that aligns with the goals of the Client product portfolio 

  • Collaborate with a team of product managers covering the Client portfolio across mobile and desktop products 

  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Ability to convert highly technical value propositions into a compelling customer story 

  • Understanding of mobile and/or desktop product development inclusive of hardware and software technologies 

  • Exceptional communication skills to convey concepts and recommendations from C-level executives to working level peers 

  • Ability to guide product definition using credible insights developed by interacting with end customers, strategic partners and by following usage, market and economic trends 

  • Excellent understanding of how the P&L works for a >$1B business 

  

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, MBA preferred
