Corporate Responsibility Manager

 

AMD’s Public Affairs team leads a collaborative, global approach to corporate responsibility, government relations and community affairs. As a part of our focus on Corporate Responsibility (CR), we lead and help oversee environmental and social (labor / human rights) initiatives spanning supply chain responsibility, product stewardship, employee and partner engagement, and public communications. This focus occurs within a cross-functional approach inclusive of AMD’s most senior executives. We aim to meet the highest ethical standards of corporate citizenship while advancing business objectives and using AMD’s technology, workforce and relationships to help enable a better world.

 

THE PERSON:

A successful candidate possesses a broad set of skills to manage, promote and/or support multiple AMD CR programs. He/she has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and be an efficient and effective contributor. The individual has strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and can work well at all levels of an organization, from frontline employees to senior executives. He/she possesses enthusiasm and knowledge around the environmental and social aspects of product development, ideally in the semiconductor or technology sector. The candidate holds integrity and compliance with high ethical standards and demonstrates self-motivation towards measurable outcomes while embracing cross-functional collaboration. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage AMD’s Supply Chain Responsibility Program and compliance with related industry environmental and social standards (e.g., the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) “Code of Conduct”)
  • Coordinate with AMD’s Supply Chain team (including executives and managers) on supplier RBA audits by utilizing monthly updates and periodic input for supplier business reviews
  • Gather and assess environmental and social data for strategic suppliers with attention and scrutiny of details, deadlines, and measurable outcomes
  • Calculate scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (e.g., supply chain, transportation, and product use) in accordance with the GHG Protocol 
  • Engage key suppliers on environmental and social initiatives and key performance indicators (e.g., water, energy, labor, injury/illness)
  • Manage AMD’s “Go Green” employee program including commuter benefits (e.g., vanpools, electric vehicle charging) and employee outreach (e.g., internal social media)
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with executives, customers, partners, suppliers, employees, and internal business units
  • Support responses to external inquiries about environmental and social data
  • Serve as a Liaison to the RBA and other industry organizations
  • Ability to domestically travel 5% of the time, and willingness to work with stakeholders located worldwide in various time zones when projects require

 

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE SUBSTANTIAL EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Environmental and social topics related to the manufacturing of products, preferably in the semiconductor or technology industry
  • The RBA Code of Conduct, with independent experience, preferred
  • Independently identifying GHG emission sources and calculating GHG inventories in accordance with the GHG Protocol, with CDP reporting experience preferred
  • Applicable environmental and social metrics and frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB), with independent assessment experience, preferred
  • Working collaboratively with people across geographies, cultures, functions, and levels of seniority, with experience in a communications role preferred
  • Employment at a multi-national, publicly-traded company

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Communications or a related discipline
  • Environmental/social auditing certification and/or experience preferred
