Technical leader in a customer facing role responsible for managing customer server development through the entire development cycle. This individual will enage with customer engineering teams during architecture definition, schematic capture, and board layout to ensure AMD spec and guidelines are met and during power-on and validation to assist with debug and root cause of all customer issues. The individual will act as the interface between customer and AMD Silicon design, FW Design, Platform Design, Debug leads, Software and Validation teams to resolve critical issues and lead and prioritize debug activities.

 

Candidate Requirements:

The candidate must have a BSEE with 10 years, or MSEE with 8 years of relevant working experience in new product development and debug from a silicon design, platform design and/or product engineering discipline. The candidate should have experience as a technical leader. The candidate must also have a strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process (preferably CPU or GPU), from concept through tape-out to production and be well-versed in x86 architecture. Experience driving multi-site and multi-disciplined engineering program teams and cross sight debug is a plus.  A successful candidate must have exceptional verbal, as well as written, communication skills.

 

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Drive customer platform validation and Debug

  • Work with customer to ensure Silicon/SW/Platform features are in sync, development is supported, and validation is planned
  • Understand customer Validation flow and ensure synergy with AMD's process
  • Lead complex debug efforts for customer issues and identify root cause and resolution
  • Prioritize defect resolution by negotiating cross-organizational team resource allocations
  • Drive solid solutions to technical issues and design challenges
  • Identify & Root-cause failures found in customer server Validation and Characterization
  • Debug OS/Application level failures using Microsoft and/or Linux Kernel Debugger.
  • Engage with customer to proactively improve post-silicon Validation test strategy, methodology and process
  • Train customers on debug tools

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to structure and execute complex analysis, draw insights, drive tiger teams
  • Communicate summary findings/recommendations to AMD senior management as well as ustomer leadership
  • Ability to network, build relationships, and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent debugging skills at SoC and System level
  • Strong knowledge of modern OS kernel (MS, Linux)
  • Programming / scripting language (Python) a plus
  • Strong understanding of industry standard IO interfaces(DDR3, DDR4, SATA3, USB3, PCIe3, XGbE)
  • Familiarity with pre-silicon environments (Verification, Emulation, Virtual Bring-Up) is a plus
  • Prior experience with server system design and validation
  • Experience with Computer Architecture concepts and silicon features
  • Experience with Hypervisors (VMware, KVM, XEN, Hyper-V, etc.), and validation/certification processes for each of these environments
