DIRECTOR, SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT – GRAPHICS SOFTWARE VALIDATION

 

THE ROLE:

As Director, Software Development, you will lead a team of software validation engineers testing one of the largest, most complex, and fastest-moving codebases in the industry. You will be responsible for strategy and execution of the graphics software validation function and define and promote a quality mindset across the global organization. You will collaborate with cross-organizational leadership on planning and delivery of high-quality, feature-rich products on schedule.  Evaluate and adopt industry-leading test and development methodologies and standards.

You have an in-depth understanding of product architecture and its requirements, are a visionary, innovative and can analyze, communicate and drive the “big picture” and continuous improvement throughout the global function.  You have strong relationship building skills, customer focus, are proactive and result-oriented. You are a strong leader, with a track record of growing and mentoring global teams.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, maintain, and drive continuous improvement of test strategies, methodologies and tools for best quality, maximum efficiency and readiness for new products and technologies and industry and ecosystem inflection points
  • Lead planning and execution of test for the core SW technology enablement, working in close alignment with product-centric test teams and other validation functions across AMD (e.g. development, hardware, customer-centric test, etc.)
  • Perfect methods for accurate estimation of validation effort for projects.  Work effectively with stakeholders to develop successful strategies for the delivery of new technologies in resource and schedule-constrained environment
  • Define and implement effective operational and quality metrics
  • Lead core automation efforts, methodology and architecture definition
  • Further, grow and strengthen the team - enable the team to operate at top efficiency and productivity, cultivate growth and a culture of innovation
  • Act as the ultimate sign-off authority for SW meeting defined quality bar and targets.  Deliver clear quality status, outlook and impact statement to stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Effective plan for validation efforts for the SW roadmap – correct focus, priorities, utilization of resources
  • Accountable for execution of validation activity on schedule, effectively anticipating, communicating and managing risk and plan changes

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Several years’ industry experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of SW quality assurance and validation methodologies, tools, best practices; specific emphasis on proficiency in various SW quality standards: ISO 25010, AutoSPICE, etc.
  • In depth understanding of software development lifecycle, rapid development methodologies, management of large codebases, strong programming knowledge
  • Excellent track record of leading, building and developing large teams (50+) of SW engineers

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
