Bring AMD’s leading-edge SoCs to life in a virtual environment!  Develop Fast Platform Models that simulate software-visible behavior of AMD’s next-generation designs.  Enable pre-silicon development of firmware, system, driver and application software.  Support emulation acceleration, performance and power modeling.  Enhance our simulation infrastructure and develop innovative, new debug features.


The SoC Virtual Model Development Coop is a great opportunity for anyone interested in full-system Computer Architecture and will expose the engineer to a vast amount of AMD IP technology and computer platform architecture.  The engineer will have responsibility for planning development to meet milestones, building models, enhancing the application's infrastructure, and supporting internal and external stakeholders.



Is a skilled problem solver who thrives on developing efficient solutions to complex problems.  Is not blocked by ambiguity, but rather, is resourceful and driven to bring clarity.  Can quickly grasp new concepts and technologies.  Is an innovative and self-starting team player, willing to go the extra mile to ensure success.



  • Develop C++ code to improve functionality, stability, and performance of existing models.
  • Develop C++ code to enhance the user's experience using the tool.
  • Develop new, innovative debug features.
  • Develop test plans and tests for functional models.



  • Experience building their own high-performance desktop computers from parts.
  • Experience developing and debugging C/C++ code in Microsoft Visual Studio and GNU gcc/g++/gdb environments.
  • Understanding of x86 and/or ARM architecture, drivers, and applications.
  • Understanding of modern OS architecture such as Linux.
  • Coop/Academic/Personal experience in low level development environments that may include kernel debugging, BIOS/EFI, or embedded systems.
  • Coop/Academic/Personal experience in functional modeling, architecture simulation, or hardware-based virtualization.
