The AMD Data Center GPU and Advanced Processing Thermal Mechanical Engineering Team is seeking a co-op/intern engineer to assist with thermal mechanical testing, tools development, and debug centered on current/future Data Center GPUs products.



The Co-Op/Intern in the Thermal Mechanical Engineering department will have excellent communication skills, planning skills, technical expertise, is a team player, possesses critical problem solving and trouble shooting skills, is a self-starter, and is well organized.



The Co-Op/Intern in Thermal Mechanical Engineering will provide hands-on support for the development of GPU and accelerated processing products.  Day-to-day activities will involve system-level and component-level test setup (including instrumentation), testing, and analysis.  Job functions will include, but are not limited to:

  • Help design and review board-level products using industry-standard CAD tools 
  • Help debug prototypes and perform lab experiments in order to achieve production-worthy products 
  • Help setup, utilize, and maintain lab equipment such as thermal test chambers, air flow benches, and liquid cooled test equipment
  • Help build thermal tools to enable internal and external customers
  • Help write and review detailed technical documentation



The Co-Op/Intern in Thermal Mechanical Engineering

  • Pursuing a technology related Bachelor's degree
  • Have a willingness to be hands on while building and testing hardware
  • Have experience handling computer hardware such as motherboards, PCIe cards, computer system cabling
  • Have experience with CAD (Solidworks), power supplies, metal fabrication tools, major OS (Linux/Windows), and basic understanding of thermals (CFD exposure to Flotherm/IcePak is a plus but not required)



Currently pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.  Experience in laboratory setting a plus.
