Fellow SoC Product Architect - 111083

 

 

THE ROLE:

Fellow level architecture role, working with Enterprise clients and architecture teams in defining new consumer gaming consoles, datacenter, client or embedded computer vision SOCs and related platforms.

 

This role will be responsible for defining customer-specific architectures, working with business development team to define strategy, identifying silicon and SW IP gaps in AMD portfolio, engage possible partners, architect product SoCs and define related key SW components. It will require a solid background in complex ASIC/SoC product development using complex CPU and GPU IPs, depth in security and virtualization architectures, low power design, and a strong view of silicon industry technology inflexion points.

 

Ideal candidate will assess Silicon, platform, Software and IP business gaps in existing solutions to create a uniquely differentiated customer specific solution.

 

The objective of the position is to work closely with AMD’s business team, gain an in-depth understanding of the customer requirement to bring together high-performance AMD CPU and / or GPU IP, AI/ML, computer vision, and other 3rd party in a single solution that uniquely addresses the customer needs for several years.

 

 

THE PERSON:

Your organization and communication skills are essential to your success in this role. You will communicate and collaborate with a network of experienced architects and designers around the world. You will approach complex problems with a firm methodology and problem-solving technique and conduct experiments and analysis to formulate recommendations and next steps for other colleagues and SOC and IP design teams. You will have the opportunity to formally present your findings to co-workers, teams, and customer engineering teams.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for concept and definition of Semi-Custom products.
  • Lead the SOC architecture and be the primary technical lead and architecture representative interfacing with IP/SOC architecture, IP/SOC design, Performance, post-Silicon, and platform teams on that specific SoC product
  • Lead the overall power architecture, power management, and power estimate based on customer-specific requirements
  • Communicate closely with AMD Architects and Customers to understand unique customer market requirements, workloads, and use cases of interest to customer-specific applications.
  • Work closely with the Semi-Custom architects and design team to understand the requirements across the product lineup with the goal of achieving alignment at the requirement level as well as maximum leverage at the micro-architecture level
  • Proactively recommend courses of action to maintain cost-effectiveness, competitiveness, system capabilities, security, scalability and reliability
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and measurements to improve quality and bottom-line profitability
  • Utilize customer feedback to improve team performance and enhance deliverables.
  • As needed, engage customers to maintain an understanding of their product requirements and future plans and how they impact our IP and technology roadmap.

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will have no less than 15 years of professional experience in the industry with a proven track record of successfully building and delivering complex semiconductor SOC products involving multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Experience in a Product Architect role.
  • Solid technical knowledge of CPU architectures, server platforms or SOCs, GPUs, and multimedia. Computer vision knowledge a plus.
  • Strong understanding of SoC power management, power dissipation, mobile battery life
  • Experience with motivating, and mentoring highly technical teams
  • Passion for delivering high-quality products
  • Driven to achieve a high level of customer/partner satisfaction
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams from multiple departments
  • Systematic thinking skills. Ability deal with novel problems from different perspectives and from different levels of abstraction
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex workflows and processes, and develop innovative approaches in streamlining and automating them

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Technical degree with an emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Computer architecture, or Computer Science with at least 15 years of relevant experience.

 

 LOCATION:

Remote but prefer Sunnyvale, CA or Austin Texas or Boston Mass
