Firmware Engineer 2 - 110422

The Role:

Exciting Entry Level opportunity within the Client BIOS development team working on the latest cutting-edge memory technologies.

Get to work with other firmware development teams, CPU architects, test teams, and end customer. In this role you will be responsible for developing and maintaining memory initialization code that optimizes the memory sub-system for maximum performance as well as designing and implementing all memory related system features.

 

The Person:

Ideal candidate is a highly motivated, eager to learn engineer with a passion for the lowest level of understanding of memory architecture, both hardware and software. Candidate should be self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Strong collaborator and team player!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and debug memory initialization firmware BIOS for systems and platforms using AMD APU/CPU including new memory feature adds.
  • Work closely with motherboard designer, APU/CPU architects and validation/test teams.
  • Able to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Debug memory interface issues.
  • Work on both internal and external platforms.
  • Work on a system simulator pre-silicon
  • Memory optimization and tuning.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Course work / previous internship experience in embedded programming or computer engineering / science
  • Expert at C language; knowledge of assembly
  • Basic knowledge with x86 architectures
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have strong system debugging skills.

 

Academic Credentials:

BS or Masters in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
