MANAGER, CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

 

The role

AMD’s Public Affairs team leads a collaborative, global approach to corporate responsibility, government relations, and community affairs. As a part of our focus on Corporate Responsibility (CR), we lead and help coordinate environmental and social (labor / human rights) initiatives spanning supply chain responsibility, product stewardship, employee and partner engagement, and public communications. This focus occurs within a cross-functional approach inclusive of AMD’s most senior executives. The person

Do you possess a broad set of skills to lead, promote, and/or support multiple AMD CR programs? Do you have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and be an efficient and effective contributor? A successful candidate has strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and can work well at all levels of an organization, from frontline employees to senior executives. He/she possesses passion and knowledge around the environmental and social aspects of product development, ideally in the semiconductor or technology sector. The candidate holds integrity and compliance with high ethical standards and demonstrates self-motivation towards measurable outcomes while embracing cross-functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop AMD’s Supply Chain Responsibility Program (data gathering/analysis, risk assessment, performance improvements, capability-building, etc)
  • Coordinate compliance with related industry environmental and social standards (e.g., the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) “Code of Conduct”) and applicable regulations
  • Participate as a Liaison to the RBA and other industry organizations
  • Support integration of responsible sourcing into applicable business functions (e.g. procurement, quality) and provide training/support to relevant AMD staff and suppliers
  • Coordinate with AMD’s Supply Chain team (including executives and managers) on suppliers’ social and environmental performance by utilizing monthly updates and periodic input for supplier business reviews
  • Capture and assess relevant data and trends for strategic suppliers, and do so with attention and scrutiny of details, timely results, and measurable outcomes
  • Engage key suppliers on effective initiatives to drive improvements in performance (e.g., water, energy, labor, injury/illness)
  • Calculate scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (e.g., supply chain, transportation, and product use) in accordance with the GHG Protocol
  • Run AMD’s “Go Green” employee program including commuter benefits and employee outreach
  • Communicate optimally and efficiently with executives, customers, partners, suppliers, employees, and internal business units
  • Ability to domestically travel 5% of the time, and willingness to work with partners located worldwide in various time zones when projects require

Successful candidates must have substantial experience with:

  • Environmental and social topics related to the manufacturing of products, preferably in the semiconductor or technology industry
  • The RBA Code of Conduct, with independent experience, preferred
  • Independently identifying GHG emission sources and calculating GHG inventories in accordance with the GHG Protocol, with CDP reporting experience preferred
  • Applicable environmental and social metrics and frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB), with independent assessment experience, preferred
  • Working collaboratively with people across geographies, cultures, functions, and levels of seniority, with experience in a communications role preferred
  • Employment at a multi-national, publicly-traded company

Academic credentials

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Communications or a related subject area
  • Environmental/social auditing certification and/or experience preferred
