HSIO Lead System Design Engineer - 162124

 

THE ROLE:

 

 

With AMD's Client engineering teams, you will be exposed to the world’s best Desktop/PC and Mobile CPU, GPU and APU processors for accelerated system computing power. As an AMD Client Engineer you will have visibility to cutting edge multi-layered security features, H-Series processors optimized for gamers and creators, and U-Series processors optimized for thin and light notebooks.

 

Looking for dynamic and energetic engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the validation of AMD’s Client Platform this role focuses on hardware validation of high speed I/O interconnect technologies (USB, PCIE, GMI, LPDDR / DDR,  I/O Controllers), targeting their SOC/PHY level functionalities and interactions in unique system topologies. The Validation Team fosters continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

 

THE PERSON:

A strong technical leader capable in test content creation and execution of SOC I/O validation (USB, PCIE, GMI, I/O Controllers). Excellent problem solving skills are a must while exhibiting end-to-end ownership in cross-functional scenarios. You should feel comfortable to be hands-on with platforms and to work in the labs for test or debug. You will be required to drive technical deep dives into SOC designs as well as working at a system/platform level.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Domain Engineer, you will work on all aspects of SOC validation from pre-silicon planning and emulation, to post-silicon Power On, Validation, and Debug. The focus will be on the validation of high speed I/O interfaces (USB, PCIE, GMI, LPDDR / DDR,  I/O Controllers), targeting their SOC/PHY level functionalities and interactions in unique system topologies.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Hands-on execution on client platforms for test and debug work
  • Develop end-to-end test strategy for pre-silicon emulation, power on/bring-up, and system integration
  • Lead collaborative test approach and track test execution
  • Interface closely with HW/FW design teams
  • Strengthen technical capabilities of the team: SOC/system architecture, test content creation, automation development
  • Build automation scripts and infrastructure for execution and triage

 

 IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • 10+ years of experience in SOC / silicon validation
  • Test or design experience in system interconnect technologies: USB, PCIE, GMI, I/O Controllers
  • Experience with physical aspects of I/O interfaces (SerDes PHY IP, signal integrity analysis)
  • Experience with I/O protocols (credit control systems, interoperability, power features, hot plug) 
  • Experience in compliance and compatibility testing an asset
  • Experience in developing HPC/ML applications, including standalone bare metal exercisers an asset
  • Strong coding skills and comfortable in LINUX (C/C++, Python)
  • Hands-on experience in datacenter system architecture an asset
  • Must have strong analytical skills for test creation and debug
  • Must have strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
