In this position the SOC Debug Architect will work with the system debug and validation team responsible for executing post-silicon validation testing.  The SOC Debug Architect will define and implement tools that help us to pinpoint functional failures.  The SOC Debug Architect will also assist in the root cause of system level failures promoting the use of our tools and training the extended team how to make best use of them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The SOC Debug Architect will need a working understanding of SOC internal IP blocks, SOC internal architecture, service micro-controllers, system power management features, and IO interfaces such as PCIE4 and USB4.

  • Work will be focused on the debug tools enablement team that supports debug activities through the construction of tools and automation components
  • Study our new SOC designs and invent methods to characterize and inspect our IP blocks
  • Create new methods to study a failed system and deduce if specific IP blocks are healthy or suspect of having encountered functional failure
  • Responsible for the construction of analysis libraries to be executed within our automated failure analysis distributed application
  • Supervise and maintain proper functionality of your libraries, assisting in consultation of failure data output, and enabling the extended team
  • Assist in specific critical debug efforts/tiger teams make the best use of debugging analysis tools
  • Field questions from validation and debug engineers and support the general use of our failure analysis tools
  • Assist in implementation, execution, and debug of the infrastructure using (but not limited to) the components in Preferred Experience section.
  • Opportunity to learn AMD’s JTAG Python API interfaces

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Strong understanding of system management via command-line interface
  • Experience with test development (for firmware, device drivers, and/or kernel)
  • Experience with development and deployment of automated test suites
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Familiarity with both Unix and Windows software environments a plus
  • Familiarity with continuous-integration best practices a plus
  • Experience with C/C++ a plus
  • Jenkins and git a plus
  • JSON data manipulation and structured database APIs a plus
  • Regular expressions a plus
  • Rest API interfaces a plus

 

 ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree + 9 years of experience
  • Master’s degree + 7 years of experience
  • PhD degree + 5 years of experience
  • Preferred major of study Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Preferred years of experience in SOC Design, SOC Verification, System Validation, and/or System Level Debug
