Position: IT DevOps Architect

Job Description

 In the exciting role of IT DevOps Architect, you will be primarily responsible for the delivery and operations of IT systems that support and enable AMD business process.

This is a senior tactical and strategic leadership position. This position encompasses hands-on, cloud and applications environment automation but also collaboratively leads/influences embedded DevOps administrators and specialists in other groups within IT. This position requires leading cloud strategies, architectures, tools/technology/process standards for environment and application deployment automation.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Architect, Develop and deploy effective IT Devops Architecture to improve the efficiency of AMD systems.
  • Day-to-day tactical responsibilities may include: automated patching, config & change management, compliance enforcement, tools Implementation and maintenance.
  • Strategic planning and roadmap of DevOps technologies processes
  • Create a climate and culture of continuous improvement and elegant simple solutions.
  • Establish a Triage model to address Production Issues with cross functional teams and implement with Intermediate Corrective Actions and Permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Flexible travel, up to 30% possible

 

 

Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, business or technical field, or equivalent
  • 10 years' proven success in Information Technology (IT)
  • 4 years' proven success in DevOps and Environment Deployment Automation leadership
  • 5 years' proven success in project/program management

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Strong technical experience in IT applications Developing and deployment
  • Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting experience working with cross functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Has a broad range of enterprise experience with a variety of Infrastructure, cloud applications (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS)
  • Can Do attitude
  • Excellent partnering and collaboration skills
  • A history of success and learning from past experiences
  • Ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to identify and solve problems creatively to ensure satisfactory user experience
  • Excellent Technical acumen and strategic thinking
  • Experience with implementing business continuity and disaster recovery programs

 

Technical Skills:

  • Operating Systems: Windows, RHEL
  • Databases: SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, OracleDB (suggested).
  • Scripting Languages and API: Bash, Python, Java, Ruby, REST API
  • Automation and Configuration Mgmt: Ansible, Cloud Formation, Docker, Rancher, Bamboo, Jenkins, Kubernetes.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Nagios, SCOM, OMS, Servicenow Service Watch
  • Storage: NetApp, SnapVault, SnapMirror, NFS, Azure E3 storage:
  • Virtualization: VMWare ESX, VCenter, VSphere, VMotion, VM Templates.
