IT Finance Business Systems Partner

The Role:

The IT Finance Business System Partner will act as a trusted IT partner for the finance team, a business system analyst, and a product owner to support improvement initiatives for finance (primarily)--ensuring it aligns with the core goals and strategic priorities of the company. He/she will interact directly with key stakeholders in the business and play an instrumental role in defining and managing business priorities and requirements. They will also work closely with the Development and Technical members of the managed services vendor team to drive successful execution of IT projects and enhancements.

The position requires a broad range of skills and the ability to step into different roles depending on the size and scope of an engagement and the ability to drive large initiatives, managing risks, owning decisions, handling escalations and deliverables. A systems implementation background, program ownership experience, and general consulting skills will be very helpful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide research assistance and clarity of business demand specifications. Bridge gap between business requirements and IT solutions ensuring common understanding and IT/Business alignment.
  • Coordinate the business SMEs' involvement in all aspects of the project.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs.
  • Document requirements, flow diagrams, define scope and objectives, and formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies.
  • Bring business sense to the management of requirements (e.g., I understand what the company is trying to achieve).
  • Beyond just collecting business requirements, tie requirements to decisions that need to be made and to strategic objectives, or corporate KPI’s.
  • Build Use Cases around collected requirements and map them into test scenarios. Transition requirements to test cases to provide traceability.
  • Analyze the results of the system and integrated testing with the business to ensure they meet all business requirements. Conduct unit and integration tests.
  • Support conversion and production cutover efforts.
  • Ensure proper user training and support users in timely issue resolution.

Preferred Experience:

Eight-plus years of experience with business requirements development and governance; functional knowledge of Finance business process, Finance reporting and analytics, Finance systems including SAP Finance & Controlling modules and systems, Revenue recognition in the semi-conductor industry will be very beneficial.

  • Firsthand experience in business requirements gathering and documentation. Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience working as a Product Owner and managing teams, escalations, and training.
  • Ability to work as a Business System Analyst to build and evaluate business cases for operational improvements and understand how technology can be leveraged to accelerate operational improvements.
  • Understands the larger end to end business process that solutions fit into; Can handle change, ambiguity, decision-making, and deadlines.
  • Willing to challenge requirements based on an understanding of prioritized objectives. Demonstrate expertise in a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms, Cloud hosting, ERP systems and Custom development solutions hosted on-premise or in the Cloud platform.
  • Experience working directly with end-users, vendors, and technical team members.
  • May provide consultation on complex projects. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is desired
