Infrastructure Design Engineer - 92603

The Role:

Will work with a team of other verification engineers to verify a state-of-the-art microprocessor core. You will architect, implement, and support Hardware Design Verification Flows, Infrastructure and Tools. This will also have the opportunity to work with IT to define, build and allocate simulation farm compute requirements and work with EDA tool vendors to integrate Vendor tools. This position is integral to enabling collaboration across sites, providing technical expertise, training, and documentation.

The Person:

AMD is looking for a hardworking, meticulous, and motivated Infrastructure Design engineer who is interested in functional verification of x86 microprocessor cores. You will work on and learn about some of the industry’s groundbreaking microarchitectural designs while you build verification plans for new design features and architectural improvements. Your contributions will affect products that span the global x86 market from server to desktop and laptop designs!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide design automation and flow expertise as part of a team performing Functional Verification of high-speed next generation Microprocessor designs.
  • Architect, implement and support Hardware Design Verification Flows, Infrastructure and Tools
  • Develop data collection, statistical reporting tools and GUIs where appropriate.
  • Works with IT to define, project and allocate simulation farm compute requirements, storage requirements and vendor licenses.
  • Works with EDA tool vendors to integrate vendor tools into Verification flows.
  • Works across sites to enable collaboration. Provide technical expertise, training and documentation. Deploy tools and flows to multi-site teams.
  • Solve tool and flow issues with individuals and teams. Develop an effective working relationship with parties involved. Suggest and develop efficiencies through proper architecture and usage of flows. Develop quality, timely and cost effective solutions independently.
  • Be a technical mentor to junior engineers who are building smaller scale tools and flows.

Experience:

  • Documented and demonstrable expertise in architecting and implementing automated tools and flows in a hardware design context. Strong ability to independently solve tool and flow issues.
  • Minimum of 2 years of scripting experience using any of the following: Perl, Python, Ruby
  • Strong experience in UNIX/Linux including shell scripting
  • Strong experience in two or more of the following:
    • software build/make systems
    • building & working with distributed regression systems, test launch systems, or batch job systems such as LSF
    • software release management and qualification systems
    • hardware simulation environments such as VCS or NC-Verilog
    • revision control systems such as SVN or Perforce

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in hardware design verification
  • Working knowledge in C/C++
  • Working knowledge in MySQL
  • Working knowledge in HTML

Academic Credentials:

  • MS Degree in Electrical, Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
