Lead Systems Engineer - 82073


The Role:

Leading technical specialists internally and externally to guide complex products from end to end, from design to delivery, requires an unusual mix of technical breadth, problem solving, and soft skills. The Person:

As a lead systems engineer (LSE) you work across swim lanes and drive output through technical perfection and influence. Your track record of accomplishment will enable you to prioritize, drive, and communicate throughout the organization and externally to key partners. Successful LSEs generate consensus, drive technical decisions, and maintain an even keel. We anticipate providing an opportunity where you will learn as you go and while also mentoring.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define system specification, negotiate features with input teams and silicon designers
  • Plan Collaborative Sub teams focused around high risk System areas
  • Work with functional teams to prioritize and develop test plans for all aspects of testing
  • Develop and drive detailed workflow for all development and Validation through Phased Validation Process
  • Drive silicon validation, characterization and debug of existing and new microprocessor and chip-set products
  • Partner with External and Customer co-validation teams to shepherd major initiatives from start to finish at the system level building bridges, trust, and confidence along the journey


Preferred Experience:

  • Systems breadth - CPU, chipset, boards, options, peripherals, OS, BIOS, drivers; Sufficient exposure to system features to move through validation gates
  • Speaks SW not just HW - Able to function within Bios, Drivers, Silicon, IO subsystems, power, thermal, OS certification
  • Platform experience across configurations, definitions, and integrations including: system bill of materials (BOM) definition and definition of validation, test, and reference platforms
  • Engages well with customers and partners while navigating through potential roadblocks
  • Works across groups (Performance, Power, and Manufacturing, etc.) to gain convergence on technical decisions and to coach and develop engineers
  • Sign-off responsibility for Synchronized releases for internal and external delivery - Ability to lead teams to test requirements for system features
  • Accomplished listener who can analyze, abstract, communicate the big picture, and bring along the team
  • Prior experience with: client PC and Workstation system design and validation; testing tools and environments, defect tracking and revision control
  • Familiar with: general Computer Architecture concepts and silicon features; Microsoft Operating Systems, Linux Operating Systems, virtualization software (VMware, Xen, et al), and validation/certification processes for each of these environments; system component compatibility; high performance client IO adapters, drivers; stress testing


Academic Credentials:

Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant discipline plus a minimum of 7 years of industry experience including at least five years focused on system or platform engineering and integration

Master’s Degree (MS) preferred
