RESPONSIBILITIES:

Datacenters are the backbone of today's computing. Join us in making this a reality by being part of an exciting team which is developing new set of advances from IO, memory, power, performance and security for AMDs next generation server platforms. The position entails architecting, designing, developing, integrating firmware solutions for SOC configuration, security, power control and advanced system features. A successful candidate will employ solid design methodologies, deep technical knowledge, and well-honed debug skills across multiple teams to ensure on-schedule, defect-free system firmware product development, reducing AMD’s time to market. If have a knack for finding flaws in firmware design and implementation, this job is perfect for you. Candidates must possess the technical proficiency and interpersonal confidence to technically clearly represent design ideas, complex problem descriptions and innovative solutions with other developers as well as non-firmware focused silicon teams. Responsibilities also include implement embedded firmware, device drivers and associated processes enabling wide range of security features. Develop new software features and enhancements within pre-& post silicon environments. Collaborate with customers and partners on new initiatives, resolve technical challenges and align efforts across engineering teams and business units within AMD. Engage as an active team player, leverage AGILE methodologies to drive cross team development, and always ready to take on new challenges. Participate in hardware bring up activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful firmware design, development, and integration experience
  • Experience within the SOC domain with specialization in security
  • Experience working with RTOS and other embedded OS environments
  • Familiarity with presilicon validation on FPGAs or simulation/emulation environments along with ASIC bring-up.
  • Strong analytical skills and debug methodology
  • Intimate knowledge of software development process methodology expected  
  • Knowledge of server architecture and system level knowledge
  • Develop, debug and validate firmware within pre & post silicon environments
  • Experience with secure software development lifecycle process
  • Well versed in software engineering practices to drive timely execution and longterm sustainability
  • Experience with x86, ARM, or Tensilica processors, controllers, and dev/debug tools a plus
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, responding to changing business and technical conditions with minimal direction.
  • Provide leadership to junior developers and always ready to take on new challenges
  • Ability to understand hardware and software interactions and be able to debug using debug tools such as JTAG scan tools, code debuggers, serial port.
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal

EDUCATION:

BS + 3-4 years or MS + 2-4 years
