Power & Performance Design Engineer -


AMD’s Low Power Advanced Development team is seeking talented, self-motivated individuals to help develop low power innovations that enable industry-leading power efficient computing and graphics products.  We have openings for R&D engineers to serve as key contributors in small project teams working on low power advanced development projects. 



  • Working on low power circuit design for CPU and/or GPU applications, mixed signal circuits and/or logic design in advanced CMOS technologies using custom and semi-custom physical design flows
  • Working within R&D on yet to be released technologies
  • Responsible for leading the pre-silicon SOC level design
  • Responsible for Front-End chip implementation including design integration, synthesis and execution flows that starts with RTL coding and ends with the delivery of a netlist package ready for physical design
  • Responsible for synthesis, netlist generation, timing and logical equivalency checks, floorplanning, budgeting, clock methodology and timing constraint management
  • Work in collaboration with Physical Design Engineers in chip level planning and integrations



  • Experience in complex ASIC Design
  • Digital design and semi-custom physical design experience including RTL coding, logic synthesis, place & route and physical design sign-off
  • Additional skill sets nice to have are:
    • Mixed signal design        
    • Switching and linear regulator design
    • Firmware coding experience
    • Platform bring-up and testing
    • Emulation experience
  • Strong communication skills, and a quick learner in a fast-moving environment



  • BS w/ 3+ years experience, MS w/ 2+ years experience or PhD Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Architecture work experience
