Software Data Engineer

The Role:


AMD’s Server BIOS QA team is looking for a highly talented engineer with strong communication skills to work closely with our test automation and firmware continuous integration test teams’ data collection, presentation and analysis. The ideal candidate must be passionate about improving software quality through automation and innovation. 


The Person:


The candidate should have an understanding of automating software/firmware and detail workflow for all automation test results. Furthermore, the candidate should have experience leading and supporting an engineering team. A successful candidate must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Planning, designing, developing and testing automated firmware continuous integration and smoke testing, automation infrastructure and firmware test cases.
  • Develop and drive detailed workflow for all automation test results and quantify the improvements gained through automation.
  • Closely interact with firmware developers, program management and validation teams in new feature definition and bring up for future product generation.
  • Improve customer satisfaction and product quality by increasing firmware test coverage and efficiency.
  • Accountable on time delivery of deliverables.
  • Involves collaboration on or assuming the consultative or leadership responsibilities for a specific project or for product development initiatives.
  • Is required to deal with internal groups on behalf of the group or project.
  • Has accountability for results in a particular area of work.
  • Influences others as a technical leader.
  • Builds and leverages positive relationships stakeholders.


Preferred Experience:


  • Proven experience with data visualization and analysis of results.
  • Prior experience with continuous integration frameworks, preferably Jenkins.
  • Programming using scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Perl).
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development processes. 
  • Knowledge of automating software/firmware test plans targeting Linux or Windows environments.
  • Data base knowledge , report developing knowledge and analysis skills to bring data from heterogenous sources and building end reports.


Academic Credentials:


•    BS and demonstrated relevant experience in test automation, software QA or software development.
