Software System Design Engineer

The Role:

Research and develop software tools to work with Design For Test structures in AMD’s newest innovative processors. AMD Debug Tools are used worldwide, internally and at client sites, during all stages of product development. Debug Tools' adaptability, reputation for readiness, and indispensability will make your work valuable in reducing rework and time to market.

The Person:

Has the ability to ask a researched question and write a documented, declarative answer. Is meticulous about demonstrating system behavior and sharing the results. Is confident researching emerging processor architecture, evaluating existing software support, and crafting software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research emerging SoC architecture
  • Evaluate design impact of new technology on Debug Tools
  • Design and document required Debug Tools software
  • Test in all phases of the product cycle -- offline, RTL emulation and lab targets.
  • After a year, you'll become one of the team's design leaders, responsible for a growing portfolio of design solutions.

Preferred Experience:

  • C/C++ including C11/17, Visual C++
  • Python/Ruby/Perl scripting proficiency
  • Bash shell
  • SVN, git
  • Device-level (datasheet) literacy
  • IEEE 1149.1 JTAG, Boundary Scan
  • Basics of modern microprocessor architecture
  • Bus protocol, such as AMBA AXI, PCI, LPC, etc.
  • FPGA interface design and programming
  • Strong technical written and spoken English

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
