Manager, Machine Learning Libs


The Role:

In this role, we are seeking someone who will take a strong, hands-on approach to lead and manage an AMD deep learning GPU libraries team. The role involves establishing coding/development best-practices across a geographically spread team and formulating continuous test and continuous delivery plans.

The Person:

The successful candidate will have experience with cross-collaborating in a matrixed organization; have a strong background in linear algebra and algorithm development to characterize and analyze performance of various deep learning primitives. As well as the desire to be hands-on in all phases of design and development.

Key Responsibilities:
•Lead a growing team to develop and optimize deep learning libraries for AMD GPUs
•Develop strategic vision and roadmap to align with the ground breaking research and development of deep learning
•Interact with teams developing open source frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
•Meet with customers and partners to ensure requirements are understood, implementations are sound, and the broader ecosystem is moving to meet the future challenges
•Develop Continuous Testing, Integration and Delivery plans
•Characterize and modeling system-level performance, executing comparison studies, and documenting and publishing results
•Hands-on participation in product implementation, including documentation and software samples

Preferred Experience:
•7 years of shown experience shipping large-scale production SW and leading a geographic team
•Proven prior experience crafting customer-facing APIs and libraries to accelerate computationally-demanding algorithms and applications.
•Validated history of project management success, communicating project vision and goals and ensuring timely product achievements
•Excellent C/C++ programming skills in the Linux environment
•Familiarity with GPU programming models like CUDA, HIP, others
•Familiarity with JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins pipelines is a plus
•Proven understanding and foundation of mathematical concepts and system-level debugging experience and problem-solving skills.
•Data-driven approach to estimation, measurement and adaptation of the architecture.
•Proponent of adopting open source tools and principles

Academic Credentials:
•Bachelors or above in EE, CS are desired
