AGESA BIOS team at AMD is looking to hire an experienced manager to lead the development of pre-OS BIOS firmware and silicon initialization code. The team is responsible for pre-silicon firmware development across all AMD product lines including laptops, desktops and servers. Your job will involve working closely with the architects and program team to scope the requirements, assess the resources needed, track progress, resolve dependencies and bring in best practices to improve productivity and scalability.



Passionate about firmware development with strong background in x86 architecture and technical breadth across multiple domains. Prior management experience with excellent soft skills to lead a diverse team of experienced and junior engineers. Good problem solving skills and ready to be hands-on if needed. Well-organized, articulate and a self-starter willing to work on a dynamic, fast-paced work environment with a demonstrated ability to do what it takes to ensure timely delivery of quality products.



  • Lead a team of around 10 engineers across various geographies working on pre and post silicon firmware development
  • Work alongside key architects in silicon and firmware domains to define, scope and plan the features for next generation products
  • Ensure timely delivery of products and milestones by tracking progress and working closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and dependencies
  • Institute firmware development best practices and drive initiatives to enhance productivity and performance of the team
  • Expand the team by hiring top notch talent; mentor the engineers and set clear career paths and goals
  • Nurture a ‘team-first’ culture based on mutual trust, collaboration and empowerment
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders across the organization and ensure highest level of quality and satisfaction



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 10-15 years of experience in BIOS or x86 silicon initialization firmware development
  • At least 3 years of experience leading or managing teams



  • Strong knowledge of x86 core and architecture, UEFI and BIOS protocols
  • Good understanding of firmware development cycle, integration and verification/validation for pre and post silicon for SoC designs.
  • Expertise in low-level C programming & debugging for embedded systems.
  • Demonstrable ability to grasp new technologies, formulate plans for execution and drive them to completion
  • Prior involvement in board, processor, or ASIC bring-up.
  • Experience with or knowledge of DRAM Initialization/training algorithms, bus standards such as APB/AHB, and protocols like USB, PCIe etc is highly desired
  • Familiarity and prior knowledge of CI/CD systems and tools including Jenkins, Coverity and any unit test frameworks
  • Proficient with source control technologies including git/gerrit/github
  • Experience with pre-silicon FW development in simulation and/or emulation environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
