The primary role of this position is:

This is an engineering management position responsible for a product test team. Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of the team. Team activities ensure overall compatibility, compliance, and test coverage of AMD microprocessors from pre-silicon planning through high volume manufacturing by designing, developing, and modifying product specific test hardware, software and diagnostics. Team correlates the test solution to lab/manufacturing/customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness to product specifications. Acts as liaison with internal customers/partners and vendors.


Responsibilities of a Test Manager

  • Manage a small team of test engineers, spanning ATE (tester level) and SLT (system level) test.
  • Plan and deliver a comprehensive test solution, including test hardware, test software and all supporting infrastructure for data analysis.
  • Work with Design to plan and execute test pattern delivery, enablement and binning in the production test program.
  • Lead the team to conduct test content characterization, and test point optimization to ensure high product quality.
  • Drive analysis and actions to optimize product yields and test times.
  • Program-manage critical product work, ensuring execution to milestones, and managing the launch and volume ramp of new products.
  • Work with OSAT’s and other test vendors to enable them for production ramp
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution with Product Engineering, Platform Validation, and with Software Engineering specifically to align BIOS deliveries for System Level Test.



Years of experience and education: Candidates will have a B.S. or M.S. degree plus 5+ years of engineering or related experience 


Required Skills:

  • Experience in product development, preferably in semiconductors.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Experience with developing tests, patterns/vectors, timing, and diagnostics on Automated Test Equipment
  • Experience in XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers.
  • Pareto analysis experience to drive a debug process.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams.
  • Experience presenting to Director level management internally.  


Preferred Skills:

  • Courses or certifications in project management (PMI, LSS, AGILE)
  • Experience with revision control (GIT, SVN, CVS, RCS or similar).
  • Debug experience in hardware, software, device, and/or manufacturing domains.
  • Some experience with C++, Java, C, or C#.
  • Some knowledge with a scripting language (Perl, Ruby, shell script, or similar).
  • Experience with logic analyzers, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools.
  • Experience with Linux or Unix Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office), Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
