The Role:

Phenomenal opportunity within the Platform Firmware Organization development team working on the latest ground breaking USB4 technologies. Get to work with other firmware development teams, CPU architects, test teams, and end customer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining memory initialization code that optimizes the memory sub-system for maximum performance as well as crafting and implementing all memory related system features.


The person:

The ideal candidate will bring broad technical understanding of enterprise servers and will have a consistent record of encouraging relationships both independently and as part of a team. Such a candidate will also have excellent organizational and communication skills, and a good balance of hardware, architecture and software expertise that will come into play in this dynamic customer engineering role.


Key responsibilities:

  • Work with Sr Engineers in the design, development, and initialization of AMD’s USB4 design for systems and platforms using AMD APU/CPU’s.
  • Work closely with motherboard designer, APU/CPU architects and validation/test teams.
  • Able to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Debug memory interface issues.
  • Work on both internal and external platforms.
  • Work on a system simulator pre-silicon
  • Memory optimization and tuning.


Preferred experience:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware architecture (GPU, CPU/APU, memory and bus logic technologies) and software architecture (driver, bios, firmware usage)
  • Knowledge of Universal Serial Bus 4 /3.2 specifications
  • Skillful at C language; knowledge of assembly
  • Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU/APU architectures and associated compile tools
  • Familiarity with at least one BIOS code base (AMI, Insyde or Phoenix BIOS) preferred
  • Able to read and interpret system schematics.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must have aptitude for system debugging.
  • Experience in BIOS related tool's development is a plus.


Academic credentials:

  • BS-CS/BS-EE with 5+ years experience with BIOS, firmware or system software development
  • MS-CS/MS-EE with 3+ years experience; with BIOS, firmware, or system software development
