We, HW video IP team located in Austin, Texas in U.S, are looking for a PMTS Silicon Design Engineer in designing our next generation power efficient hardware architecture. The video IP team primarily focuses on developing advanced HW video IP solution for addressing needs of different market segments and usecases. Our solution spans across multiple dGPU, APU, server and gaming markets. As a member of HW video architecture team, you will be responsible for shaping the future of our design solutions in performance per watt and competitive analysis, evaluation of product solution architecture, and optimization recommendation to drive a winning solution now and future IP generations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performance and power analysis of all industry available dGPU and APU multimedia solutions
-
Competitive analysis of AMD multimedia solutions
-
Study various multimedia usecases and make recommendations to address architecture and solution improvement in performance per watt for future roadmap
-
Video codec toolset tuning optimization for power and battery-life enhancement analysis
-
Bandwidth evaluation and architecture assessment
-
Solution based power optimization
-
Prototype and enhancement validation in actual product or architecture modelling
-
Automate and improve competitive analysis process
-
Think outside the box!
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
-
Master in EE or Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree or above
-
15+ years of hands-on experience and expertise in video codec digital hardware development
-
5+ years of hands-on performance, quality, power, and architecture analysis along with product bring up experience
-
Expertise in low-power ASIC design and power analysis techniques in various stages of design cycle
-
broad knowledge of power optimization techniques in hardware architecture, RTL design, logic synthesis, place & route and on-silicon/on-system tuning
-
Working experiences and knowledge among various video codecs: H.264, H.265, AV1, and other emerging standards are definite great assets
-
Ability to perform required tasks in a black-box environment

Proven and strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Excellent technical leadership to lead and drive video IP performance per watt and competitive analysis

Hands on experience in script and automation development
-
Good interpersonal skills (verbal and written).

An organized, enthusiastic self-starter, strong interest in low power hardware architecture and competitive analysis.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
