System Architect / Lead System Engineer


The Role

The System Architect will play key role in ensuring AMD Embedded system software addresses critical Embedded market segment (Networking, Storage, Automotive, Thin client) requirements by performing the below:

  • Own mapping of product features to low level details that help engineering teams plan & execute development of system software for AMD Embedded products
  • Own technical specification documentation of the product that helps customer understand the bounding box of the SoC, Firmware, Software (driver, tools)
  • Influence AMD product roadmap working with core teams and ensuring Embedded requirements/gaps are addressed in future generations
  • Review designs and provide key feedback to meet use-case requirement
  • Lead system wide debug of critical issues working with all relevant SW/FW teams
  • Provide custom software design support for tier-1 customers by assisting understand requirements, architecting solution / high-level design working in conjunction with vertical architects
  • Guide engineering teams when needed in understanding specific features, triaging system software issues and addressing customer queries



  • Demonstrated technology experience with deep system software expertise and architecture experience 
  • Excellent system understanding with design/solution and debug skills
  • Good x86, GPU architecture knowledge
  • Good experience with OS (Linux, Windows is a plus), Kernel, driver development
  • Firmware/Hardware knowledge is must, experience is a big plus
  • Good knowledge SoC power management – CPU/Device power states, hot-plug etc
  • Demonstrated capabilities of understanding market/customer requirements and providing solutions integrating multiple system components
  • Good at documenting requirements, design/solution and product details
  • Excellent communication and articulation skills
  • Leadership experience is a plus
  • SW – OS, kernel, driver development. +Compiler, Libs
    • FW – BIOS, ACPI. +Security, Power management
    • HW – X86, GPU, DDR, PCIe. +CXL, NVMe, XGBE


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering
  • Master’s degree is a plus
