Power Management Architect

The role:

Work with our Advanced Algorithm and Power Features high-performance microprocessor design team in the Design and Power Engineering group. We delivering world-class, power-efficient designs to compute systems ranging from cutting edge personal computers to high-end servers and supercomputers to next-generation gaming solutions!


The person:

Drive innovation: bring strong analytical problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to detail along with your knowledge of pre- and post-silicon power management design. Do you understand the big picture, as well as comprehend the fine technical details? That's the experienced engineer we are curious about for this outstanding opportunity where you will collaborate closely with system/SOC hardware architects, firmware, BIOS and software programmers, and product, test, and validation engineers. This opportunity takes both technical leadership and influence skills. In addition, this position is responsible for mentoring junior engineers.


Key responsibilities:

Use SoC hardware design and software systems expertise to take ownership of developing and driving innovative and aggressive behavioral techniques to support power-efficient designs from early power definition to layout, synthesis, and back-end physical design.

Work end-to-end delivering complex power management feature algorithm architecture from proof of concept prototyping to post-silicon bring-up characterization and final preparation for productization.

  • Drive feature definition and implement prototypes
  • Develop system-level models and use cases
  • Document specifications and test hardware solutions.


Preferred experience:

  • Proven experience with microprocessor or chipset hardware design for power, embedded microcontroller firmware development, hardware test and verification environments
  • Solid background in microprocessor and computer architecture, power firmware algorithm development, electrical characterization for production and power software
  • Familiarity with chip design tools including RTL and Verilog
  • Programming skills in either C or C++ (object-oriented programming) as well as scripting with Perl or Python, for example, and experience with modeling
  • Familiarity with both Windows and UNIX platforms
  • Minimum of BS + 8 years or MS + 6 years or PhD + 2 years plus mastery of principles of logic design, software and hardware principles and methods relevant to more complex systems and platforms


Academic credentials:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another relevant field
  • Masters or Ph.D. preferred
