Power Management Architect

The Role:

Drive definition, implementation and verification of the power management architecture along with the algorithms and features which make use of this architecture to optimize power consumption for the next generation of Radeon processors.

The Person:

Bring strong analytical problem solving skills and a pronounced attention to detail along with your knowledge of pre- and post-silicon power management design and algorithm development. Collaborate closely with system/SOC hardware architects, firmware, BIOS and software programmers and product, test and validation engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership for developing and driving innovative advances in power concept, power management architecture, and the algorithms and techniques needed to support power-efficient graphics platforms from concept through product launch.

Work end-to-end delivering complex power management feature algorithm architecture from proof-of-concept prototyping to post-silicon bring-up characterization and final preparation for productization.

  • Drive feature definition, implement prototypes, verification and implementation
  • Develop system level models and use cases
  • Document specifications and test hardware solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to understand the power and perf/watt and SOC/IP/Platform architecture/design teams.
  • Modeling the solutions to establish the return-on-investment and evaluate trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with the hardware/firmware/software and with post-silicon teams to debug/tune/optimize the solution.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven experience with microprocessor or chipset hardware architecting for power, embedded microcontroller firmware development, hardware test and verification environments
  • Experience in microprocessor and computer architecture, power firmware algorithm development, electrical characterization for production and power software
  • Familiarity with chip design tools including RTL and Verilog
  • Programming skills in either C or C++ as well as scripting with Perl or Python, for example, and experience with modelling
  • Familiarity with both Windows and UNIX platforms

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another relevant field. Masters or Ph.D. preferred
