Principal GPU Network Software Engineer

The Role:

As a senior technical leader and domain specialist you will define a vision for GPU network software to provide outstanding support for GPU applications running high performance computing and machine learning workloads at scale. You will work with technical specialists within AMD, our partners, and the open-source community to implement your vision as part of AMD’s Radeon Open Ecosystem (ROCm).

The Person:

You have extensive knowledge of distributed memory and portioned global address space programming models and lower-level communication frameworks and are passionate about improving them for GPUs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation as well as provide technical leadership of AMD GPU network software stack
  • Lead AMD’s participation in industry standards and open-source projects
  • Work with key technical specialists across AMD and with our partners and customers to improve ROCm GPU networking software

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience implementing communication middleware like MPI/SHMEM
  • Experience with lower-level communication frameworks like UCX/libfabric and RDMA APIs
  • Strong background developing system software in C/C++
  • Familiarity with GPU programming in HIP or CUDA
  • Experience with motivating and mentoring junior engineers
  • Shown success influencing technical colleagues
  • In-depth knowledge of standard methodologies in software development, including testing, profiling, debugging, documentation, version control, issue tracking, and planning
  • Consistent track record contributing to open-source projects

Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc. or B.Eng. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Advanced degrees, such as M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D. are preferred
