Product Development Engineer-Yield Analysis

The Role:

This is a lead engineering position responsible for BIST and functional testing of arrays on next-generation AMD microprocessors. Position includes test planning, pattern conversion, silicon characterization/debug and data analysis. This position requires interaction with Design and Platform Engineering and allows for the opportunity to provide test improvement feedback for future designs. Part of a larger team that correlates the test solution to lab/manufacturing/customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness to product specifications.   • Modeling and analyzing Power and Performance parameters and on-die monitors/IP
  • Defining, characterizing, developing and enhancing power/performance capabilities of the product
  • Build and execute validation test plans, report coverage plan and perform debug experiments
  • Establishing pre-silicon pattern requirements and driving Design Verification deliveries
  • Executing the defined characterization and test plans on new silicon
  • Delivery of optimized test points and product definitions across PVT corners to meet business requirements.
  • Driving debug and closure of all issues that arise post-silicon (process, yield, device)
  • Driving yield and performance distribution improvements across wafer sort, final test, and SLT
  • Ensure the defined product meets customer requirements and serve as one of the technical collaborate with the design, platform validation and business teams.

The Person:

The Experienced Yield Engineer is encouraged to find effective solutions to sophisticated problems and drive continuous yield improvement. Troubleshooting and problem solving are the fundamental role of the Yield Engineer. Technical leadership and innovation are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Has responsibility for projects or processes of significant technical importance and for results that cross engineering project areas.
  • Solves complex, novel and non-recurring problems; initiates significant changes to existing processes/ methods and leads development and implementation.
  • Influences technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.
  • Involves assuming the consultative or leadership responsibilities for large projects or product development initiatives.
  • Is required to take care of internal and external groups on behalf of the group or project.
  • You will also perform code reviews, building unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and off-shore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule.
  • May provide technical supervision or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Influences others as a technical leader!
  • Generates publication(s) relevant to areas of expertise and is capable of speaking publicly at technical conferences
  • Identify and plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues.
  • Ability to network, build relationships and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization
  • Other duties as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Understanding of semiconductor testing and good technical knowledge on handling measuring & testing document and experienced in equipment verification, repair and problem solving.
  • Understanding of DFT features such as ATPG Scan, memory BIST, and Functional/at speed testing
  • Knowledge of on-device voltage/frequency scaling IPs and methodologies
  • Modeling and analyzing Power and Performance parameters and on-die monitors/IP
  • Defining, characterizing, developing and improving power/performance capabilities of the product
  • Developing characterization and test coverage strategies
  • Establishing pre-silicon pattern requirements and driving Design Verification deliveries
  • Executing the defined characterization and test plans on new silicon
  • Delivery of optimized test points and product definitions across PVT corners to meet business requirements.
  • Driving debug and closure of all issues that arise post-silicon (process, yield, device)
  • Driving yield and performance distribution improvements across wafer sort, final test, and SLT
  • Ensure the defined product meets customer requirements and serve as one of the technical collaborate with the design, platform validation and business teams.
  • Product characterization and test point optimization
  • Understanding of semiconductor device physics and speed path analysis.
  • Platform power/performance analysis and benchmarking is a plus

Academic Credentials:

Technology related bachelor's degree or other technical field (e.g., Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent combination of training and experience.
