The primary role of this position is:

The MTS Product Engineering Lead is responsible for driving the product engineering solution for a next-generation AMD Product.  This position requires engagement with Test, Design and Platform Engineering and allows for the opportunity to provide enhancement feedback for future designs.  


Product Engineering is a time-to-market and time-to-margin driven team responsible for enabling the availability of microprocessors to our customers. Pre-silicon responsibilities for the Product Engineer include understanding product features, developing characterization test plans, and highlighting test coverage holes.  Post-silicon responsibilities include performance and yield distribution optimization through integration across process targeting, test, packaging, feature optimization, and device marginalities. Working closely with Test, Design and Platform Engineering, the Product Engineer will drive resolution of issues identified through debug, characterization and margin analysis.


Role details include:

This is an integration-focused technical leadership position to ensure optimized product cost, quality and supply with the following responsibilities:

  • Developing characterization and test coverage strategies for Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and System Level Test (SLT) insertions
  • Establishing pre-silicon pattern development requirements and driving Design Verification deliveries
  • Drive execution of the characterization and test plans on new silicon
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimized test points and product definitions across PVT corners to meet business requirements.
  • Lead analysis of all issues that arise post-silicon (process, yield, device)
  • Drive yield and performance distribution improvements across wafer sort, final test, and SLT


Additionally, the PEL is responsible for ensuring the defined product meets customer requirements and is the primary technical interface with the design, platform validation and business teams.



Years of experience and education:

Candidates will have a B.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 7 years of applicable experience or M.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 5 years of directly related experience.


Required Skills:

  • Understanding of semiconductor process, packaging and test technologies
  • >Experience in semiconductor product development including work in process, packaging and DFT technologies
  • Understanding of DFT features such as scan compression, memory BIST, JTAG, and at speed testing
  • >Experience in design verification developing scan, BIST, JTAG or functional patterns or >4yrs of experience with developing tests, patterns/vectors and timing on Automated Test Equipment.
  • Competency in data analysis and basic statistics
  • Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers. (or whatever kind of analysis we expect)
  • Competency in process optimization; direct experience in defining and validating a semiconductor device’s performance preferred
  • >Experience optimizing a process, preferably defining and validating a semiconductor device’s performance
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed teams
  • Experience generating a publication relevant to areas of expertise.
  • Experience presenting to Director level management internally.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across organizational boundaries
  • Experience driving a project that required influencing across organizational boundaries.
