Program Manager, Central Methodology & Tools (CMT)


AMD is seeking a Program Manager to join the Central Methodology & Tools (CMT) team. In this role, you will be part of the Program Management and Operations team that is has program management responsibility for all projects across the global CMT team as well as leads new process development and process improvement initiatives.  The role is to function as a Program Manager for the Central Methodology & Tools team planning and managing projects throughout the organization.



This dynamic role will require a balance of technical and management aptitude along with soft skills.  Must possess ability to coordinate and lead activities, influence process changes within peer teams, and have strong analytical skills.  Out of box critical thinking and adeptness in simplifying for efficiency is a must. Data driven mindset is needed.



Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Project planning, requirements definition, managing deliverables, tracking and reporting for key Central Methodology initiatives
  • Scoping new projects and developing budgets
  • Own and execute on tactical PM activities such as customer issue tracking and follow-up to ensure the methodology team meets and exceeds commitments and key performance metrics
  • Develop project management best practices and processes to roll-out across the Central Methodology organization
  • Drive team compliance to PMO processes, standards, and metrics
  • Initiates enhancements to existing processes and methods to improve operational efficiencies while achieving alignment from key stakeholders
  • Working effectively with stakeholders outside of the CMT organization as well as external vendors to ensure deliverables are provided that meet or exceed CMT requirements
  • Prepare and deliver Executive-Level project updates
  • Analyze and track detailed project tasks and performance against the plan of record to identify any issues early that are impacting the project plan and identify options for recovering delays to maintain schedule
  • Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement; you must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Executive Management
  • Strong documentation and communication skills will be called upon frequently, especially in delivering clear and concise information to functional managers and executives
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Must be able to use spreadsheets to develop cost models and analyze different financial scenarios


Preferred experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of proven Program Management experience in a dynamic and competitive industry, particularly within Software Development or Engineering based organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Opportunities to work a percentage of your time from home are available and may/will be required.
  • Experience with different project management tools such as Microsoft Project is beneficial
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Ability to align and build consensus among stakeholders working towards a final goal
  • Keen sense of urgency and drive for results.


Academic Credentials:

  • BS, MS degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, is preferred.
  • PMP Certification is a plus, but not required
