PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The co-op will be investigating new hardware and software features to improve irregular application performance on AMD CPUs and GPUs.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

The co-op will work with a team of experienced researchers in analyzing the performance limitations of select irregular workloads on AMD hardware. The co-op will be expected to innovate software and/or hardware solutions and demonstrate their effectiveness analytically and/or in simulation. The co-op will be expected to be able to work independently as well as collaborate with AMD researchers and engineers when appropriate. Ideally, the project will result in a publication in support of the co-op’s academic research.
 
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
PhD candidates w/ or w/o prior industry co-op experience are welcome (all degrees that are related to CS or EE). Requires strong understanding of computer architecture. Knowledge of HPC and GPU programming a plus. Experience in microarchitectural modeling in C/C++ and Python a plus.
