System Management Unit (SMU) Architecture Engineer

The Role:

A results-oriented opportunity that involves fast-pace innovation on the cutting edge of technology working with sophisticated SoC designs that integrate various design IP blocks. This leads to complex interactions with the convergence of resets, clocks, and power domains. This role provides an opportunity for a forward-thinking and problem-solving engineer at principal level to become the go-to specialist over time with mentorship. If you have a proven depth of knowledge and a strong passion for SOC/System reset, IP initialization, and clock control behavior, then we seek a conversation with you. The Person:

A silicon design engineer with robust industry experience, strong analytical ability, and sharp problem solving skills who will deliver responsive and efficient solutions. Engage proven technical collaboration to guide the process of AMD hardware enablement. Utilize polished written and verbal communication skills to work with a variety of teams, analyze system requirements, coordinate feature design and development across various swim lanes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fastidious micro architecting of the SMU to deliver power and performance metrics
  • Own complex reset architecture and reset tree as a trusted domain specialist
  • Manage the exciting interplay as multiple resets, multiple clocks and multiple power domains converge

Preferred Experience:

Extensive SoC and IC design experience, from high-level architecture and specification development and to micro-architecture development, through RTL design and verification, as well as synthesis. Excellent debug and troubleshooting skills. Ability to learn and apply new skills rapidly. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks at once. Project and team leadership experience. Design flow creation and implementation.

Minimum of a technical degree + at least 10 years of silicon design experience.

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor's Degree with Major in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Master’s Degree or PhD Degree preferred
