Senior Accelerator Platform and Ecosystem Enablement and Optimization Engineer



AMD is looking for a highly talented engineer to join our Datacenter Ecosystem Engineering team as an overall expert in enabling GPGPU’s and other accelerators with AMD EPYC processors.  You will be working to enable both function and entitled performance for accelerator enabled workloads on our latest processors, working with both our AMD developed Radeon and NVIDIA GPU’s, and accelerators from other companies such as Xilinx.  This will be an exciting and critical role in the engineering team for Enterprise Servers market segment where you will be responsible for working the GPU and accelerator teams, ISV's, and OEM's to help enable and optimize GPU compute and other accelerator enabled solutions on AMD EPYC platforms.



You will be a member of a best-in-industry engineering team and will work with heterogeneous hardware platforms, software solution stacks and end-applications based on cutting edge technology.  You will focus enabling the GPU’s and accelerators, along with other hardware components required to complete full customer solutions.  That could include, but is not limited to, high speed NIC’s and NVMe devices.  You will be responsible for understanding the board and processor electrical requirements to enable functionality, firmware to tune the device at the subsystem level, and optimizing the software to enable the full performance.  That will require you to be able to understand AMD platform and processor architecture to enable the best performance.  You will interact with other experts in AMD global engineering teams, AMD FAE’s, IHV’s, and ISV's worldwide. Based on learning from enablement and performance tuning, you will also provide ongoing feedback to influence the AMD technology and product roadmap planning.



  • This position will be a subject matter expert for GPGPU and/or accelerator enabled workloads and how to tune AMD processor-based systems for them
  • The engineer will need to be able to investigate from board level to the firmware and application stacks to enable and tune for performance
  • Will need to work with ISV's, IHV's, and server OEM’s / ODM’s on full stack solutions and issues
  • To help enable our end-customers, one will be expected to write reference architectures for full enablement of GPGPU’s and accelerators.  The reference architectures will be developed by executing benchmarks or other synthetic workloads to be able to find the optimal tuning.
  • Assuming the lead position in a complex problem solving and debug efforts through multi-people/party steering of tiger teams, hands-on work as well as program managing the effort end-to-end.
  • Provide product and technology influential feedback into server product management, systems and SW efforts, AMD technology and product planning.
  • Provide business critical engineering enablement for business development and sales engagements to enable design-win expansion.



  • Writing/optimizing BIOS or other firmware for performance is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience running known industry benchmarks or using other available synthetic workloads to generate load on a server or other GPGPU/accelerator platform is a plus
  • Proficient in perl, python, powershell, or other scripting languages
  • Strong hands-on technical skills with one or more OS, hypervisors, databases, and/or applications.
  • Hands-on technical skills in server hardware platforms
  • Hands-on technical skills with modern GPGPU’s and/or accelerators
  • Strong knowledge of upcoming technologies, to keep pace with the industry
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware including processors and high-speed IO
  • Expert in PCIe gen3 or later, especially as it pertains to GPGPU’s and accelerators
  • History of using logic analyzer and oscilloscope for debugging issues in the lab
  • Strong familiarity with server processors, silicon architecture, design and debugging.
  • Ability to lead teams to deliver results for both internal and external customers
  • Ability to work in a multi-site, multi-cultural environment and the ability to travel as needed.
  • Team player with passion and zeal to do whatever it takes for business success with a keen sense of urgency and strong drive.
  • Excellent communication (external, internal, verbal, presentation, written) and organizational skills with an entrepreneurial spirit to drive results.



  • Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 10+ years of extensive experience in the areas of server, GPU, and/or accelerator platform enablement and optimization
