Director of Performance Architecture

 

THE ROLE:

As a passionate and dedicated Director of Performance, in the AMD Client Business Unit, you are the driving force behind leading a global team that develops pre-silicon performance models for next generation notebook and desktop processors. This role will involve developing new models, evaluating architectural features, and supporting pre-silicon performance projections for AMD and its most important Client partners. You will collaborate with AMD's Architecture and Technology leaders and drive AMD's performance teams, strategies, roadmaps, and product performance cycles. 

 

THE PERSON

You are an agile and self-driven business leader and technologist with experience in forward looking and emerging technologies as well as product domains related to AMD and its leading-edge performance modeling practice. You have a passion and vision for high performance modeling solutions around system platforms. You have driven high-level initiatives and work directly with C-Level, engineering teams and technology partners. Your vision has defined long-range strategic technology roadmaps and partnerships across technology domains. You have been the Chief Performance Modeling Architect for leading industry solutions helping to bring product solutions from concept to launch. You have broad knowledge and expertise in computing technology and a depth in unique areas related to performance modeling

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with IP and SOC architects to define performance modeling requirements
  • Develop cycle-accurate and abstract performance models
  • Develop tools for analyzing performance of new SOC architectures
  • Carry out investigations to evaluate new microarchitectural features and algorithms
  • Correlate models against RTL and post-silicon results

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with computer system simulation and performance evaluation
  • Familiar with microarchitecture modeling and simulator development
  • Experience analyzing system bottlenecks and optimizing computing systems for performance
  • Proficient in C/C++ programming and software engineering concepts
  • Detailed microarchitecture knowledge of a CPU, GPU, DSP, multimedia co-processor, I/O subsystem, and/or DRAM controller
  • Familiarity with computing software, including operating systems, hypervisors, compilers, drivers, and workloads

 

ACADEMIC CRENDENTIALS

  • Masters/Ph.D. degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis on computer architecture
