The Role:
AMD is looking for an IT Senior Manager to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in Data Center Strategy and Operations. In this key role your experience and understanding the current and future data center technologies and operations is greatly valued. In this role you will partner with IT architects, project and support teams, Engineering users and suppliers to enable AMD’s tremendous growth and improve the employee productivity.

The Person:
As a leader in IT, you will help to transform the AMD Data Center strategy and operations with your vision—influencing others and inspire change at all levels with your thought leadership. You are known for your ability to effectively partner with multi-faceted stakeholder groups to solve problems and deliver creative, cost-effective solutions and services prioritizing end-user productivity and balancing security requirements. You bring strong technical expertise and passion for customer service to lead an organization deliver world-class Data Center services. Your leadership experience in IT infrastructure architecture and operations in everything that is touching the Data Center, Labs and IT site services will enable you to be an integral part of our IT team!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive AMD’s data center strategy to support company-wide growth and agility enabling Engineering product development and bring up.
  • Lead Data Center and Co-location capacity planning partnering with Engineering, Facilities and Procurement.
  • Oversee the project delivery, develop and implement operations standards for IT data center service delivery globally.
  • Responsible for IT data center operations partnering with Engineering, Facilities, and IT teams globally.
  • Measure, monitor, and maintain the team’s ability to meet or exceed Service Level Objectives.
  • Identify critical system issues and engage cross-functional teams and external vendors for timely incident resolution and problem management for recurring issues.
  • Perform periodic assessment of the environment and take proactive steps to mature the technology, process, and associated services delivery
  • Leverage existing, emerging, and innovative technologies to enhance the data center experience.
  • Responsible for planning and enabling IT services as part of Lab and Site expansions partnering with Engineering, Facilities and IT globally
  • Build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Foster strong internal and external networks, and work with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven industry track record of managing data centers with emphasis on high performance computing.
  • In depth knowledge of data center technologies, facilities and infrastructure.
  • Experienced in interfacing with Data Center Services and Co-Location providers.
  • Deep knowledge of data center network topology and equipment layout for redundancy and to optimize power utilization and space.
  • Robust experience in maintenance and life cycle management of all IT equipment including spare parts inventory.
  • Strong focus on operations while balancing forward looking view on strategy and capacity planning.
  • Skilled in High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
  • Solid understanding of IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and regulatory requirements, how to balance these requirements with employee productivity objectives.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading high-performing teams.

Academic Credentials:

  • BS/MS in EE, CS, or similar.
