The Role:

Join a team of software developers who create new features in Telco ISV software and solution aligned with AMD’s server platform roadmap. You will have the opportunity to work on world leading technologies such as CPU microarchitecture, Virtualization, Ethernet, FPGA, Security, Crypto Compression, 4G/5G/6G Network and storage infrastructure offload etc. Your daily work includes but not limited to software development and upstream into open source projects to enable latest cutting edge technologies, performance tuning and optimization, research and innovation on high performance infrastructure for network, storage and crypto offload to solve industry challenges in network evolution.

The Person:

Are you passionate about network software development and innovation? Do you enjoy writing and reviewing code and contributing to any open source projects? Do you enjoy working with customers to right-size, troubleshoot and fine-tune their on-premise and in-cloud deployments? Enjoy using different compiler/linker tools, debuggers, and profilers to debug code and eke out maximum performance? Do you like to use your strong communication skills to create technical documents and publications a reference material for others? Then, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Telco ISV software engineers on large, complex application software (often millions of LOC)
  • Understand current and planned features in AMD’s datacenter hardware roadmap for CPU, GPU, and accelerators
  • Develop software features and refactor complex code for multi-core CPUs, large memory footprint and fast IO subsystems
  • Characterize network performance of the benchmark or application with new features in AMD processor
  • Develop SDK/APIs, software libraries, poll mode driver for networking, storage, crypto and compression data planes and control planes
  • Perform profiling with compiler, Operating Systems internals and ISA processor architecture, x86 CPU core, cache and memory management optimization
  • Collect and analyze data to identify and mitigate performance hotspots
  • Work with Telco ISVs or open-source maintainers to release these changes
  • Publish methodologies used and results obtained via tuning guides, white-papers, and technical presentations at industry conferences

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong software development skills in C/C++, Shell scripting, Python or JAVA
  • Strong background in networking technologies such as 4G/5G control/data plane development and Open-source project upstream contribution experience for networking application and solution
  • Hands-on experience in developing complex packet processing algorithms and design scalable software architectures that run in virtualized environments while meeting real-time requirements of next generation networks
  • Familiarity with L1-L7 Networking protocols, and other network application such as  user plane function, micro-service network function implementation, DPI, load-balancer, firewall, NMS, NFV/SDN, and Datacenter networking would be preferred.
  • Experience with network related open source projects including DPDK, Anuket, FD.io(VPP), FlexRAN, OVS, Overlay networks, Contrail vswitch, ONAP, OpenDaylight, OPNFV, etc
  • Experience with RTOS, preferably RT Linux, Kubernetes, containers, and cloud native architectures

Academic Credentials:

  • 4-year engineering degree (CS/EE) preferred
