Physical Design Engineer - 82984

The Role:

We drive flow enablement and optimization from synthesis through physical design closure and analysis on AMD's next generation high-speed processor using advanced technology nodes! Are you looking to work on the next generation of product?

The Person:

The candidate should have strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to details. Must be organized, self-motivated and able to work effectively on teams small and large across sites. Will be tasked to prioritize multiple assignments and drive them to completion. Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial for driving technical conversations to successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable flow targets for sophisticated technology nodes and qualify them for cutting edge timing and power goals. May include floorplan, physical cell insertion, power grid creation, synthesis, placement, routing, and design closure.
  • Qualify advanced libraries and drive improvements for timing, power, and routing.
  • Evaluate macro releases to ensure robust design integration.
  • Develop advanced tool and flow features to improve PPA (power, performance, area).
  • Ensure robust formal verification of RTL against optimized gates.
  • Drive UPF based multi-voltage construction flow development and qualification.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize noise and electrical design closure.
  • Participate in design reviews and drive usage of standard methodologies.

Preferred Experience:

  • Must have solid understanding of logic design, digital custom circuit design, and CAD tools including logic synthesis, place and route tools for high-performance design, and physical design closure.
  • Experience with power optimization is required.
  • Experience coding in various languages is important.

Academic Credentials:

Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred
