Technical, hands-on engineer responsible for power and performance characterization and optimization at the silicon SoC level up through BIOS, system firmware, and OS levels on AMD Server products.

This individual will be primarily responsible for developing and executing characterization and optimization test plans to tune the power and performance of Server products.  This will require close knowledge of voltage regulation and power delivery on both platform and SoC, as well as a working knowledge of SoC-level power management features.


Candidate Requirements

The candidate must have a BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant working experience in new product development from a silicon design, platform design and/or product engineering discipline.  A successful candidate must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and must be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams.



  • Develop and execute test plans to tune power estimation parameters and power/performance features to optimize SoC- and system-level power and performance across all AMD Server products
  • Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure (software, hardware, automation environment, and lab setup)
  • Debug and drive root-cause analysis for power and performance related issues
  • Drive key learnings back into design for future improvement



  • BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of power delivery and voltage regulation mechanisms at SoC and system level
  • Understanding of Server platform architecture
  • Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
  • Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows) and benchmarking tools
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
  • Familiarity with data mining, machine learning is a strong plus
  • Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
  • Must be organized and multitask well
  • Passion and hunger to learn new technology every day and drive to getting things done
