SoC Definition Manager/Architect

The Role:

The SoC Definition Manager is part of a dynamic environment that manages a small team of engineers responsible for the creation and delivery of formal specifications, feature definitions and is accountable for the optimized processor programming register model, and also responsible for areas of platform specifications that directly affect processor silicon, processor feature enablement, and processor initialization consumed by technical teams inside and outside of AMD.

          • CPU design or architecture (x86 preferred)
          • Graphics, GPU design or architecture

          • Memory technologies (DDR)
          • PC platform or PC system design

Key Responsibilities

    • Manages team priorities
    • Conducts performance reviews and provides general team leadership and guidance
    • IP-XACT
      • Coordinates schedules with cross-functional teams
      • Ensures timely delivery of SoC for multiple client programs in concert with downstream consumers
      • Conducts reviews of documentation collateral for NDA and Public distribution
      • Technical issue communications, program specification status reporting
    • Ensures cohesiveness of all the technology definitions within the family
    • Makes sure that nothing falls between the cracks (ex. ID definitions)
    • Drives product and specification issues to closure (Jira)
    • Individual contributor
      • Responsible for the documentation which refers to the part of the architecture that is relevant to multiple engineering teams (as opposed to microarchitecture, which is generally relevant only to silicon design)
      • Customer communication support
      • Program support forums. For example, CTAs, ERB support and any program meetings.
      • CPUID family, model, and stepping definitions and support.
      • PCI ID definition and coordination support

 

Preferred Education:
BSEE, BSCS or Similar; MS experience desired.

 

Preferred Experience:
The candidate should have experience with x86 software models, microprocessors, graphics processors, PC chipset hardware with a general familiarity with microprocessor and PC/SoC architecture. Knowledge of programming languages, scripting languages, XML, etc. is a plus. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with word processors including OpenOffice/LibraOffice, MS Word, and/or FrameMaker desired.
