High Performance Computing Software Engineer

 

The primary responsibility is working directly with customers to optimize scientific computing applications for AMD CPU and GPU platforms. The job duties include developing and optimizing code, working with other teams within AMD Research, product groups, and vendor partners to help improve the AMD HPC software ecosystem, communicating with key internal and external stakeholders, working with other teams to produce programming guides and training materials, and presenting at customer venues and at industry conferences.

 

The candidate will have:

•             A PhD in Computer Science, Computational Physics,  Engineering, or related subjects, or equivalent experience.

•             Strong programming skills, especially in C/C++ and Python

•             Strong performance analysis skills for both CPU and GPU

•             Experience with analysis and solution of numerical problems typically found in scientific computing applications

•             Experience with parallel programming techniques such as MPI and OpenMP

•             Experience developing and optimizing applications for GPU acceleration

•             In-depth knowledge of software development practices including debug, test, revision control, documentation, and bug tracking

•             Experience developing and running applications on medium to large clusters

•             Strong communication skills (verbal and written). 

•             Excellent customer support skills

•             A demonstrated track record of producing and presenting training materials and/or industry conference presentations

 

An ideal candidate will have:

•             At least three years of relevant industry experience (internship or full-time)

•             Familiarity with modern Fortran  (2008), and parallel programming directive models for Fortran

•             Familiarity with deep neural network machine learning technologies and modern machine learning programming frameworks

•             Experience working with and developing virtualization containers and package managers for code deployment

•             Ability to work well in geographically dispersed teams
