Software Engineering Technical Manager - 116625

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Technical Manager for the AMD Debug Tools team, to be based in our AMD Austin office. The team supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of Software Debug Tools used across the AMD Enterprise – including CPU / GPU / SOC / HPC initiatives. These Debug tools are used for all new Chip Designs at AMD. Looking for a Mission Critical and High-Profile position leading an experienced development team? If so, this is the position for you!

The Person:

This role offers the opportunity to show off your leadership skills building and driving a group of highly skilled Software Engineers solving complex engineering problems, while still staying hands-on in some aspects of Technical Development. Breakdown is expected to be 60% Management / 40% Technical responsibilities. Must be comfortable leading a team of up to 10 Sr. Software Engineers. Technical stack includes C++, C# / .NET, AngularJS – and can include Ruby and Python, as well – on both Linux and Windows platforms. Process oriented and experience with Scrum extremely helpful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead / Manage a team of 7 to 10 senior members in the Hardware Debug Software team in Austin
  • Participate in architecture and design level discussion.
  • Own various AMD programs and support Hardware Debug Software development, execution and maintenance.
  • Closely work with International teams and ensure that the sprint related tasks are completed on time

Preferred Experience:

  • Management experience with teams of 5 to 10 members including team management and performance management
  • Strong C++ & C# / .NET programming background with knowledge of Software Design
  • Strong architecture and Software design in previous experience.
  • Process oriented, knowledge of Scrum or related development process is a plus
  • Looking for one or more of these skills: Relational database, Angular Web development, Linux development, Embedded system and software development
  • Looking for great interpersonal skills and collaboration experience.
  • Semiconductor experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in JTAG, Hardware Debug domain will be a plus

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering background preferred
