Senior Business Planning Specialist-Data Anaylst

The Role:

 

World Wide Marketing at AMD is looking to hire an A-player to help drive Corporate Marketing’s marketing intelligence & metrics process. This function stretches across all the business units as well as multiple functions at AMD. You will manage a fast-paced super collaborate team of individuals who are passionate about their work and thrive on guaranteeing the best ROI for AMD. Your function will range from expanding our metrics reporting capabilities including producing actionable insights, centralizing data and creating marketing’s first data lake across PR, Brand, Digital, Campaigns, Regional and Operations teams.

If marketing intelligence, deep analytics, flux, variances, and explaining/visualizing data appeal to you this role will help you expand. Additionally, you will be surrounded by a team that will help build, support and provide multiple development opportunities for you.

The person:

To be successful in this role, you are a comfortable with change, highly analytical, excellent at taking care of ambiguity, know how to extrapolate available data and tie to external market and other conditions. You will be able to do this while dealing with deadlines and be phenomenal at communicating, innovating on the fly, establishing relationships and trust. Finally, you will be highly aligned with your constituents all while driving the CMO’s objectives and being the best steward of our spend.

Key responsibilities:

Your success is meaningful to WWM’s ability to perform. Your responsibilities are to:

  • Support creation of a data lake housing all of marketing’s information and eventually own all queries and reporting requests. You will work across Brand, Digital, Social and Comms teams to become single source of all marketing KPI’s and marketing intelligence.
  • Support the implementation of our Marketing Measurement Platform - Hive 9, across Corporate Marketing & Supporting Business Units.
  • Work with the analytics team to help drive the analytics strategy for Corporate Marketing, Including unlocking insights and guiding the business –– everything from identifying, testing and optimizing new/existing channels.
  • Work with the regional marketing teams as they design campaigns and analyze/quantify the impact of these marketing efforts to AMD’s revenue/units or margin growth. Also provide insights on strategic historical campaigns to memorialize learnings for the future.
  • Query large enterprise data warehouses using SQL, integrating data from multiple sources with appropriate data structures to support longitudinal analysis.
  • Design and produce weekly and monthly performance reports. Explore new datasets, clean datasets, design repeatable processes to build professional visualizations for partners while providing trends and takeaways to the reports.
  • Put together dashboards to communicate data insights and convey a story
  • Ad hoc data requests for Board, AMD’s executive team and CMO’s office.

Preferred experience:

  • Basic understanding of the digital marketing landscape
  • Expertise with SQL and large and sophisticated databases
  • Mastery with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx) or BI software (Looker, Knime, SalesForce, SSAS, Cognos), and tools like Google Analytics /Data Suite or Adobe
  • Prior experience proactively identifying areas where analytical efforts can produce a strong business value.
  • Experience with narrating insights based on big data and analytics deep dives.
  • Familiarity with Social analytics tools/metrics supporting Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc.

Academic credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree ideally in a quantitative field (Engineering, Statistics Economics or Finance) or a technical background is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with Social/Ecom background of which some exposure to operations, planning and finance is preferred.
