Client Platform Debug  Engineer:

System  Debug Engineer responsible for working directly internal development teams and Customer for driving end to end System debug flow from triage through root cause in validation labs and ODM development labs.

 

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Manage and track technical issues, risks and priorities. Manage customer and executive communications, including program status, risks and opportunities.
  • Own end-to-end debug of assigned issues
  • Lead complex debug efforts f to identify root cause and resolution of improper or inconsistent system operation & flows including HW & SW issues.
  • Support product engineering in resolving customer issues which require system-level expertise Provide debug, applications support, and design assistance to customers, and field applications.
  • Leverage debug features to accelerate testing and improve test effectiveness. Provide debug and testing input for feature improvements to next-generation designs.
  •  

Experience & Skills:

  • BS plus 8+ years of experience or MS plus 6+ years of experience desired. 
  • The ideal candidate is a hardware designer or systems debug engineer who has worked at a computer hardware company as a design or debug engineer and worked on at least 2 projects from development, through bring-up and validation and supported through the release to production.
  • Strong knowledge of X86 and chipset architectures and Power management specially Modern Standby desired.
  • Hands-on experience debugging low-level firmware such as UEFI, power management FW, memory initialization and training, or similar.
  • Experience with debugging user or kernel-mode drivers using WinDBG. Experience in Crash dump analysis, system hang analysis and ETL parsing is a plus.
  • Expert use of tools such as Jtag debuggers, logic analyzers, SATA, USB, and PCIe bus analyzers is required.
  • Expertise with Windows kernel and driver debug, USB hardware and software stack debug,  or PCIe hardware and software stack debug.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrable experience in design of experiments to solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills are required for the role of supporting customers.
