Senior Director or Corporate Vice President, Software Machine Learning

 

The Role

Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) is looking for a passionate, results-oriented Sr. Director/VP Software Development - Machine Learning and High Performance Compute, to help the development team and drive the technology to enable significant business value in the GPU computing domain.  This position will be based in Austin (Texas), Toronto (Canada) or Sunnyvale (California), with international travel to clients/teams required.

 

The Person

Our ideal candidate will possess advanced software machine learning expertise with a track record of success within the industry.  You have demonstrated credibility as an expert in your field, with both internal and external stakeholders and customers. You have experience leading global teams in a matrixed environment, and strong communication, influencing and leadership skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a distributed team (global) in the production of GPU computing solutions which include:
    • ROCm GPU computing platform,
    • GPU computing language runtimes and compilers (OpenCL, HIP, HCC)
    • User-mode drivers and runtime system software across multiple operating systems
    • GPU optimized math libraries, framework, and applications
    • Fostering entrepreneurial culture and putting processes in place to recruit/hire top talent
    • Leading and mentoring on/off shore staff
  • Creating and maintaining and roadmaps, milestones and metrics, including resource/time estimate
  • Driving and facilitating planning, scheduling and execution of projects
  • Establishing efficient automated test processes and critical quality metrics
  • Contributing to high-level strategic decisions with product, engineering, and executive teams
  • Collaborating with Product Management leadership to define technical requirements and design clarity based on the business requirements
  • Leading interaction with partners, customers and open source community
  • Working with customers to explain technical concepts and implementation impacts
  • Leading GPU Computing strategy and implementation

 

Preferred Experience

  • Solid knowledge of software fundamentals especially in Deep Learning, High Performance Computing or GPU Server Based computing
  • Consistent record in engineering execution, delivery software on time with high quality and achieving premium high-performance software solutions
  • Experience building and leading large global software engineering teams
  • Strong Interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Experience leading multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Solid understanding of C/C++ Programming and Linux Operating System internals and server system architecture
  • Experience building device driver or operating systems
  • Background with Agile project methodologies
  • Passionate about automated testing
  • Familiarity with various deployment models including cloud, virtualization and containers
  • Self-motivated with an ability to multi-task

 

Academic Credentials

  • 15+ years' engineering management and 10+ years' software development
  • Masters’ Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in related field(s)
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training
  • MBA is strong plus
