Manager, Performance Architecture

 

The role:

AMD’s Memory Subsystem Performance Architecture team delivers performance features and models for all of AMD’s flagship processors. This includes the CPUs, GPUs, and APUs that power AMD’s Server, Client, Game Console, discrete graphics, and machine learning products. As the Manager of this high-caliber team, the individual will be responsible to lead experienced performance architects and modeling engineers who are engaged in analyzing and optimizing high-performance memory subsystem designs for Cloud computing, machine intelligence acceleration, and immersive mobile processing.

Key responsibilities:

Serving as the Performance Architecture Manager, you will guide the team’s deliverables and coordinate the dependencies with leads from multiple business units and collaborate with the executive team on program execution reviews. This also entails participating n next generation product planning, concept/HLD reviews and lead the team to carry out microarchitecture exploration, performance modeling, and analysis for next-generation memory technologies, scalable interconnects, and quality-of-service.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Intimately understand design architecture and propose solutions to enhance performance
  • Leading micro-benchmarking, workload characterization, competitive analysis, bottleneck identification, and optimization.
  • Set direction to the team that develops tools and methodology for performance analysis of workloads.
  • Communicate, propose, and implement solutions to processor and system performance issues.

 

Preferred experience:

We are seeking a person with a demonstrated background in Performance Architecture who is also a technical leader.

  • Experience with CPU, GPU, or computer system microarchitecture
  • Experience with the development and usage of computer system performance models
  • Experience with computer workload analysis
  • Experience with leading staffing, budget planning, project execution and cross-team dependencies

 

Academic credentials:

  • MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
